Central to every bride's wedding dream is the gown she wears.
Style-Bride Boutique & Design Studio, 315 N. Santa Fe Ave., is about fulfilling those dreams, says owner Mia Gonzalez, who terms the store's recent opening a wish come true for herself.
The 1997 Pueblo County High School grad brings a strong background of education and experience that took root at age 11 when she dreamed of becoming a fashion designer and started teaching herself to sew.
Her junior and senior prom gowns were original pattern creations.
Fashion design school at Colorado State University at Ford Collins propelled her to Beverly Hills design houses upon graduation.
She lists off the prominent bridal and lingerie industry names with celebrity associations like a bride ticks off her wish list.
At Victoria's Secret, Gonzalez was in charge of technical design, making sure every lingerie fabric, lace and notion was in place for Sri Lanka production. While working for designer Cocoe Voci, Gonzalez met actress-musician Moon Zappa and helped make her wedding dress.
One of Gonzales' most glamorous associations was at the Renee Strauss for the Bride in Beverly Hills store, where off-the-rack dresses and custom gowns like Julia Roberts' dress in "Runaway Bride" were sold.
"All of the studios, Warner Brothers, Sony and Paramount, any time they would have a bridal theme or a wedding, they would go over there to either make the gown or borrow the gown," said Gonzalez.
In 2003, her career nearly went academic when she returned to CSU to teach fashion illustration before another Los Angeles adventure.
From the beginning of her fashion career, however, Gonzales, 28, says she always hoped to run a bridal boutique here.
She said her store prides itself on stellar customer service, while offering gowns starting at $300, as well as high-end custom dresses.
In her 11th week of business, Gonzalez says she's found most brides prefer a nontraditional look.
"They don't want the dress that looks like it's from the top of the cake, poufy and plastic and blasted with sequins," she said. "We have girls with tattoos, second weddings so they don't want white, girls incorporating different colors, the different themes, the '50s style."
Plus, Gonzalez, who says she's one of few custom designers statewide, can make a gown from scratch, perhaps starting with a magazine photo. She then adds "a little bit of a twist" in the bride's taste - whatever's needed to realize a bride's special dream.

'Grey's Anatomy' Star & Singer Josh Kelley Plan Winter-Themed Wedding
Singer Josh Kelley and his fiancée Katherine Heigl are planning a winter wonderland theme for their upcoming wedding. Kelley, 26, popped the question to the Grey's Anatomy star, 28, in June with a three-carat pear-shaped diamond engagement ring.
The singer approves of the winter theme, telling an American publication, "It was Katherine's first idea. Once she started talking about it and what it would look like, I was set."

Planning a Disney-Themed Wedding:
The Date: August 5th, 2000.
The Place: The Reflecting Pond at the University of Central Florida.
The Mission: To meet my future wife in person for the very first time.
Outcome: Happily Married!
Well, there was more to it than that... namely our wedding roughly one year ago and the entire of planning that went into it before hand.
To begin with, we picked a date and our colors for the wedding. Our choices, ice blue and lavender, would set the color scheme for the rest of the items in the wedding.
We looked all over for a reception site location, as well as for a ceremony location. We looked at the Disney Weddings option of course, which would have been nice, but we decided to go somewhere else and use more funds for the wedding itself versus paying more for the venue site. In the end, we picked a very elegant meeting facility for both the ceremony and reception. In fact, the facility was cheaper and nicer than several hotels we looked at! Remember: always take a look at the total inclusive price (given in "per person" format) before dismissing a venue. Ours included all of the food and beverage service, and I'd be surprised if a hotel or commercial meeting facility allowed you to bring in your own food and beverage. Most of the time, you have to use their services.
Now that we knew when, where, and with what color scheme the wedding would have, we started to brainstorm about the wedding itself. We learned very quickly that by far, more effort would go into the reception than the ceremony. Of course that makes sense: there are more activities going on then and the guests will spend more time there then in ceremony area.
We knew we wanted a Disney theme, but we wanted to also incorporate some traditional themes as well. So, we decided that the reception would pretty much be all out Disney, whereas the ceremony would be more traditional (on the surface at least).
THE MUSIC
The key for the Disney part would be the music, and oh man did we have a killer music selection. In fact, that was pretty much all we did Disney as far as the ceremony goes.
The first song we did was the waiting music, or rather the "please be seated while the entire wedding party collects themselves from being nervous wrecks" music. For this we picked what is possibly the best song for this purpose: the Impressions de France Medley from the Official Walt Disney World Soundtrack. This song is over 10 minutes long, has beautiful changing segments of music and best of all, ends with a large pipe organ segment. This not only fit into our traditional wishes perfectly, but it made the place reverberate like an actual church, and was a three minute warning that the processional was about to start. To really feel the effect of it, I instructed our Disc Jockey to slowly crank up the volume during this last section to get everyone's attention that the ceremony was about to start. It was incredible!
For the rest of the wedding party, we took a less climatic version of "Some Day My Prince Will Come" from a CD called "Piano Disney," which I haven't been able to find online since we bought it. It was a very soft version of it, with a single piano playing.
The most important song of the ceremony was, by far, the song she would walk down the aisle to. She picked "When You Wish Upon a Star", and we used the version from a CD called "A Disney Spectacular." It is classic Disney music but just with orchestra, and this song got a lot of people crying before the ceremony even began. It was the perfect song choice, and even builds up to the point where she arrived at the altar.

How to Make a Beach Wedding Theme Work
It's the time of the year to be planning your nuptials by the sea. The winter storms are winding down in preparation for the day they give way to those days of glorious sunshine that we all love so much. Fortunately, it perfectly aligns with the traditional wedding seasons making a beach wedding a natural choice. Fortunately the prevalence of beach related materials available means that nearly anyone can put together a beach wedding. This is true even if they have no access to an actual beach at all!
The trick to planning any kind of themed wedding is to narrow your focus. Far too often brides decide they want a beach wedding and that's where they stop their planning efforts and begin gathering decor items. As a result they pick up anything that; 1. captures their fancy, and 2. reminds them in any way of the ocean. As a result, pretty soon their budget is spent and they don't really have anything more than a box full of sea shells, some plastic flower leis, and a few Frisbees.
Instead they should choose an aspect of beach life that stirs their imagination and look for ways to make every item in your wedding lend to your beach theme. For example, if you chose a lighthouse themed wedding, you might want to choose a restaurant on a bluff with lots of windows looking out over the ocean. Or, if you are not able to have the celebration near the ocean, you could play the sounds of waves crashing on the rocks and hold your event at night with a slowly rotating light mounted high above your dance floor to give the illusion that your wedding is being held in a large lighthouse.
Now continue the lighthouse theme. What elements are characteristic of lighthouse scenes? Light? Fog? The sound of waves crashing on the beach? Lighthouses? Raincoats? Umbrellas? Rocks? Ships? Sailboats? The list goes on.
Choose one or two and build your beach theme wedding around them. For example, if you chose the sailboats aspect of a lighthouse theme you could borrow a sail to hang as a tapestry on the wall and perhaps a small dingy or standing in the corner. Then do an internet search for sailboat or lighthouse themed favors to adorn your reception tables and express your gratitude to your wedding guests.
The advantage of such a tact is that if you choose your accessories and favors well, you won't have to spend as much on decor because those favors and accessories will go a long way to creating your theme.
But don't stop there! Starting with your dress, consider how every element of your wedding serves or detracts from your theme. For a beach wedding a dress with a long train, for example, might not be the right choice. There are, however, a number of beautiful styles that have been designed with beach weddings in mind, or under the inspiration of mermaids.
Once you found your gown, then you might want to choose barefoot sandals with shells and pearls instead of high heels.
Then it's on to the wedding cake, flowers, music, and all the other details that we have come to expect in a wedding. Evaluate each element in terms of how it can advance the theme. The days of importing the standard Victorian theme wedding into every setting are over. Trying to do so runs the risk of spending more money than necessary and getting a less memorable wedding.

Unless you are fortunate enough to be able to marry in Hawaii, the on the Mediterranean coast, Mexico or one of the Caribbean isles the weather seams to preclude a beach themed wedding.
So it would seem.

Perhaps, your idea of the beach is the classic old lighthouses. Build a beach wedding that centers around the lighthouse motif. Rent an old lighthouse (or lighthouse visitor's center) if you can find one that will accommodate your party and is available. If not find a suitable location (preferably within earshot of the pounding of the surf) and decorate with the lighthouse theme in mind.
A nighttime wedding celebration within earshot of the roar of the sea is also the perfect opportunity to combine a beach wedding reception theme with a fairytale wedding theme to create a mermaid themed wedding.

Tips to Choose Your Wedding Theme
You will probably need to choose your wedding theme when you starting planning for your big day. The choices for your other wedding items such as invitation and gown will probably follow the theme so that your wedding can become a whole unique event. In fact, there are quite a number of different themes you can choose from. Some of the most popular choices are beach wedding and winter theme wedding. In this article, tips about choosing the theme will be discussed.
You will first of all consider the season and time of the year you will have your wedding. It will be nonsense to plan for a winter white wedding if you are going to host it in summer. Considering the season, you may even try to relate your big day to the festivals. One of the most obvious possibilities is certainly Christmas. If you are going to have your big day on the Christmas day, you can certainly make your wedding ceremony and reception a Christmas party. Adding some seasonal favors to your wedding can make your big day more unique.
You will also need to choose between the notions of formal and informal wedding. Some couples will believe that a wedding should always be a formal event and it makes no sense to plan for an informal one. On the contrary, some other couples may think that the essence of a wedding is sharing the joy and happiness with their beloved ones. As a consequence, these couples may go for a more informal wedding. Once you make your decision on this matter, it will be quite difficult for you to change. It can be a mess if you change your mind at the middle of your wedding planning. For example, you may need to pay extra if you have originally ordered your wedding invitation in a formal style but you change it to an informal design when it is being printed.
Besides the choice between formal and informal, you will also need to consider if you want a traditional or modern wedding. You may choose to have your wedding in a church and this will most probably be more traditional. In this case your choice of wedding gown may also be more traditional. Since all the traditional choices are usually well developed, you may somehow find it easier to plan for a traditional wedding. However, some couples nowadays may want to go for something different and unique so that the big day reflects the life style of them.
The budget is also an important consideration when you are choosing your theme. If you are on budget, you may choose a theme which can help to save you money. A beach wedding is considered a more economical choice of theme. Of course there are always ways to save money no matter what your theme is. However, no one can deny that some themes may render a cheaper wedding. As a result, you may need to avoid themes that will certainly cost you more if you are not planning to spend so much money.
